Locanda Sant'agata

The night of the 9th was especially bad. A children's party or event took place at the property without warning, with kids shouting and playing right outside our room on both sides. We closed the curtains, but paying for the most expensive room and having no privacy, with children looking in, was unpleasant. Later, loud music, shouting, and doors slamming from neighboring guests kept us awake until 06:45. At about 03:00 we went to speak to them ourselves, but nothing changed. The next morning the owner's parents told us those guests were leaving anyway. We appreciated their attention, but as hoteliers ourselves, we would have checked on the affected guests, apologized, and perhaps offered a small gesture, even if the disturbance was outside our control. We chose the property after reading its positive reviews. This was our first holiday in three years, after setting up and running our own hotel, and we had hoped for a peaceful anniversary and vacation. Instead, after continuing our trip and staying in several other places, some cheaper, we saw how far below an acceptable level the hospitality and care here had been. We had mentioned our third wedding anniversary in the booking, but it was never acknowledged. On the anniversary itself, when the restaurant was closed, we asked where we could eat and got no reply or suggestions. That felt impersonal. The Junior suite also had a broken shower knob, loose or broken shower and sink taps, and heating and air conditioning that didn't work properly. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and needed replacing, nowhere near hotel-bed quality. The room felt outdated, with visible shower mold that we could wipe off with a finger; maintenance and cleanliness weren't acceptable. The outdoor area by the room looked neglected and untidy. We wouldn't recommend staying here. It may have been a good place five years ago, but it needs an upgrade and hospitality training. The owner's parents were warm, helpful, and attentive, and their kindness was the only reason we didn't leave early. We tried emailing the hotel about our experience, but they didn't reply, so we are sharing much of our email here in the hope of getting an answer. We stayed Sept. 8 - 13. EDIT AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: We've added a picture of the conversation where we asked for a topper because the bed was so uncomfortable. The message told us one wasn't available, although the response to his review claimed it was. We hope this gives others enough to judge the property's honesty. After our emails, the only response we received was the one to this review, which says enough for us.
