There’s a little shared fridge, and the lobby has a kettle with tea and herbal tea. The rooms are kept in good shape, and the owner is friendly and ready to help. It’s now a guesthouse just above the excellent Bettolino restaurant.

A very kind woman came to collect us in an electric golf cart. The village is pleasant enough, but it’s isolated and has very few people around, so there isn’t much to it. The rooms were ugly and run-down. I wouldn’t stay here again.

For us, this was handy while walking the route of St. Francis, and the price was good. Still, it’s a very basic, family-run guesthouse, with the family also running a restaurant in town. The rooms have no air conditioning, and being right on the only road cars can use means it isn’t especially peaceful. We weren’t given a receipt, either. There may be better places to stay in San Leo.

The bed was so hard that neither of us could sleep, and the bathroom had no radiator, so it was cold to bathe. On the plus side, the room looked toward the castle, and the place is in San Leo’s historic center. The owner was friendly and very helpful.

The town view was stunning, and the place is lovingly looked after. The owners, especially Mrs. Erika, made me feel very well cared for. It was excellent value for the money, and I’d happily recommend it.
