Hotel Excelsior Cimone

The beds were comfortable and the rooms tidy, and the staff were polite. It was cheaper than the other hotels around here, though the breakfast wasn't great and had very little variety. The walls are so thin you can hear everything from other rooms and the whole corridor. I only managed to relax after 10pm, once the other guests had gone to sleep. The place could use a refurbishment.

Never again. There were no towels until the third day, and the aisles were cleaned at 5:30 in the morning. They came into my room while my one-year-old son was sleeping and woke him up without caring. The service was poor all around. You have to go to the main table to get your own plate, and at the bar you have to keep bothering someone to get anything. The food was poor, the staff unkind, and the director aggressive. Terrible experience, do not go there.

After five hours of waiting, we were sent to another hotel 20 miles away. That place had no room for us either. It was a farce from beginning to end. I had booked online and received an email confirmation, and my name was on the hotel list. On arrival, they first asked me to come back in ten minutes while they cleaned the room. When I returned, it still wasn't ready and they told me to come back in two hours. Then they said there was no room available at all, despite my confirmation. Several other guests waiting with us were told the same thing. Eventually they said a nearby hotel had space, but that turned out not to be true.

For 75 EUR, this standard is way too low. The breakfast was dry bread served without a smile, the hallways are missing carpets, and the small old rooms show plenty of wear and tear. Just a sad old hotel. Never coming back!
