I fiori del Pollino - Guest House

A word of warning for the drive there: GPS often sends you along narrow, bumpy internal roads that can be dangerous. There's a convenient provincial road that goes straight to the property without trouble. We had a really lovely stay at I Fiori del Pollino in San Severino Lucano. The property is beautifully kept and spotless, with a hearty breakfast and a relaxing setting that's perfect for getting away from daily life and enjoying Pollino's natural beauty. The owner was delightful and extremely helpful. He understood our needs with our newborn right away and did everything he could to make us comfortable. Highly recommended for the peace, hospitality and location!

The place is charming, though remote from any points of interest. What bothered me was the owner's response about a piece of clothing we left behind. At first he said he'd check with the woman who looked after the rooms, but then he disappeared and ignored two more requests for an update, even though they could be verified. Asking is fair, answering is polite, the saying goes. I found it rude, to say the least. Keep an eye on your belongings if you stay there.

We spent four nights in the Ambretta Suite with our cat and felt at home right away. Francesco's hospitality made for a warm, peaceful and relaxing stay in a truly magical setting. It's a superb base for exploring Pollino National Park. The cleanliness and attention to detail were second to none. Maria, who looked after breakfast and is the soul of the property, deserves a special mention. She was always so kind and ready to help with anything we asked. We'll be back very soon. The owner was kind right from the start and checked every day that things were going smoothly. I even texted late one evening to ask about raising the suite temperature, and he was prompt and really helpful. I stayed two nights with my partner and dog in the La Cicerbita Suite. The landscape is wonderful, the outdoor space is beautifully kept, and there was so much room and greenery that my dog could spend a few hours outside in peace. The suite was spacious, functional for our needs, with well-separated areas, and impeccably clean. I love the breakfast basket with milk, coffee, bread, homemade jam, fruit, cookies and the rest. My only comment is about presentation in such a beautiful property: jam could go in a mini glass jar, bread and cookies in a tin, and fruit in a mini basket, instead of using foil or plastic cups. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.
