Hotel Scintilla

La Cinta is just a block away, and the hotel has its own lido there. We found the service perfect, with great staff who made the stay memorable. It's an old-style place but very well cared for, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, AC, a safe, TV, WiFi and daily cleaning. Parking was great, and breakfast was delicious.

We picked San teodora for its location and its small, family-run, rustic feel. After reading some bad reviews, we decided it suited us: we don't need a pool since we prefer the beach and sea. The week was perfect. The hotel is about 100 yards from Sardinia's biggest beach, with plenty of room to settle in, either by one of the three beach bars or farther along where it's quieter. We bought a parasol and two bamboo beach lays in town for €40, rather than pay at least €15 each per day for loungers. The beautiful town is a lovely, level 15-minute walk away, with lots of gorgeous restaurants and bars. Every meal we had was delicious. We only tried the restaurant on the way to the beach on our last night and wished we'd gone sooner. It was our best meal, outstanding in the gardens, and lots of locals eat there. The ice cream was amazing wherever we had it. We took a boat trip from the marina, leaving at 10am and returning at 5.30pm. It cost €70 and was worth every penny, with four swim stops, 90 minutes at the beach on Tavalora island, and a lovely Spag Bol lunch that none of the other trips included. Back at the hotel, our room was spacious and spotless, with an incredibly comfy bed and a beautiful view of the marina and sea from the balcony. Sheets and towels were changed every other day. The bathroom was dated, with a shower curtain rather than a cubicle, but there was nothing wrong with it. A small fridge and kettle would have made the room perfect. The quaint bar area was there, though we never used it. Breakfast suited us: juice, melon, freshly baked croissants and bread rolls, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, cakes we weren't fussed about, and nice coffee from a machine. Staff were friendly, including the owner and her adorable little puppy Mary, as well as the handy man who was always happy to help and guide us. One tip: arrange airport transport directly with the hotel. It costs only €60 each way, while our taxi from the airport was €100. Now we know for next time. We'd definitely return to this beautiful country, town and hotel.

We felt at home at Hotel Scintilla. It's family-run, and the staff were always ready to help or share information. Our room was very clean, and dinner was delicious every time, with typical Sardinian dishes. La Cinta-beach is nearby, and the center of San Teodoro is about a five-minute walk away. I'd definitely recommend it.

The staff were friendly, the location was perfect, and breakfast was very Italian.
