B&B Ortensia

The owner’s hospitality was the highlight for us. He was friendly, kind, and helpful, and ready to sort out unexpected problems at any time. The B&B has what you need for a quiet, relaxing stay. It’s in a peaceful village, less than 10 minutes from Gallipoli and the beaches. There are also some delicious little restaurants in the town center, so you can eat without leaving town. Recommended!

The owner’s handling of the booking was the main problem. I had told him we would arrive late at night, but he didn’t mention the €20 after-hours check-in surcharge. Guests should be told about that up front so they aren’t surprised later. If I’d known beforehand, I would have chosen somewhere else. The room looked nice, but it was missing some useful things, like a vanity stand and towel holder. Its window faced an illuminated corridor. When I asked if it could be covered, they put up white sheets, but they didn’t block the light, which came in during the early morning and kept us from sleeping. The double bed was two beds pushed together and was uncomfortable. The room photos showed a small fridge, but there wasn’t one when we arrived. On our last day, there wasn’t even any toilet paper in the bathroom. Breakfast was one piece of croissant and a coffee, with no other drinks. The bar staff were very friendly.

The owner was helpful, and the B&B was clean and well run. It’s a quiet place to stay and handy for getting to lots of destinations around Salento. Highly recommended!

Fausto puts real care and passion into running the B&B, and that made us feel at home. The place is well kept and smells lovely and clean. Breakfast was excellent, with good products and plenty of choice, and the family-run staff were genuinely friendly and kind. Highly recommended ♡
