The hotel itself was very nice, but the staff seemed unsure how to handle my gluten-free meals. They said they could accommodate me, then served cold, hard rice with sauce and called it pasta. I asked several times for them to fix it, but they never brought it back. They were also meant to serve turkey with potatoes, but the dish had gravy, which I'm severely allergic to. Later I asked whether the dessert was gluten-free and they had no idea. Twenty minutes later they said it wasn't and offered to make something else. Another 20 minutes passed, they'd forgotten, and when I asked, they said they were preparing it. What finally arrived was an unripe banana and a dirty, bruised apple. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

The hotel has a striking 1930s feel as soon as you enter, with a beautiful entrance and hallway. The rooms were clean and spacious, and breakfast was good in some ways. Still, I wouldn't rate it as a four-star hotel, more like three. Some practical problems stood out. A ramp on some or all of the entrance stairs would make it wheelchair friendly. The scrambled eggs were too watery, croissants were sometimes stale, and breakfast dishes could be chipped or dirty. We reported right away that the room telephone wasn't working, but it still hadn't been fixed a week later when we left. The shower door wasn't fitted properly and kept coming off its hinges. Construction below the hotel and along the hill made the view mostly a construction site, with the sea beyond.

This was our third visit, and it was a letdown compared with the previous stays. We booked three rooms for the family, plus the welcome VIP package and children welcome package, but our room was barely put together. We usually got bathrobes and slippers, and there was none of that this time. The worst part was waiting nearly an hour and a half for the main course, then discovering the lobster in the lobster pasta was rotten. They removed the lobster from the bill to try to make it right, but we were left hungry and everything was closed. For the price and a "four star" location, the appeal has worn off. We think we'll stay elsewhere next time. Americans should avoid.

Everything worked well for me, and I'd stay here again. Check-in was easy, the rooms were clean, and the location was great. Just be aware that there's construction nearby at the moment and parking costs $16, as advertised on the website.
