We arrived at the agreed time, but the owner had forgotten our booking and left us outside in the August sun. Our calls went unanswered because the phone was disconnected. Luckily, a neighbor let us in and managed to contact the owner's father. During a storm in Sorrento, the owner repeatedly called us to return and shut the windows, which she said were open. We came back despite being quite far away, only to find everything locked as we had left it, so the alarm was unnecessary. The property is beautiful from the outside, well furnished, and in an excellent location, but a lot inside needs fixing. The bathtub leaks badly whenever it’s used. The washing machine doesn’t spin, the dishwasher doesn’t clean dishes properly, and perhaps related to that, we found a moldy coffee maker. Only one of the four burners had automatic ignition, and there should be a gas lighter. After I raised these issues when leaving, I was told the previous group had “destroyed” the house. I’d suggest giving guests advance notice and perhaps showing them some courtesy. The house and location have enormous potential, but that potential isn’t being fully realized.
