This seafront residence in Sant'Alessio Siculo has about 50 apartments facing the beach, many rented out over the summer. The good points are the sea view, how close it is to the beach, and the affordable prices. The courtyard and jumble of stairs look like a Brazilian favela, though, and finding parking is impossible.

Ants everywhere, poor mattresses, and a two-room apartment that was dirty. The bathroom had no ventilation and clogged drains, and the refrigerator didn’t work. Not a stay I’d repeat.
