Miramare Sea Resort & Spa

Our room at the Miramare was beautiful, and the view felt more like being right on the seafront than simply looking out at the sea. Everyone on staff was lovely. The buggy ride to the nearby thermal park and pools was a great extra. We had a wonderful stay and will be back!

This was our second stay, and we loved it again. We had superb dinners every evening, delicious food with plenty of traditional Italian dishes and five courses if you were hungry. Breakfast had a huge range of choices, and all the staff were helpful and friendly. From our balcony, or even from bed through the French doors, we watched the sun rise over the mainland and Capri, colouring the sky above Maronti Bay and the boats. It's a spectacular view. The area is hilly, with steps, and the thermal pools are a few minutes' walk away. The hotel explains that, and can provide an electric cart if needed. We enjoyed walking and taking in the views. For us, it's a relaxing, comfortable stay in a stunning place. Ignore the poor reviews and enjoy this fabulous part of Ischia at the Miramare!

We had an amazing time at this rustic, understated hotel right on the beach. The bay looked beautiful from our balcony, especially in the evening as the colours kept changing. Guests can use almost 10 thermal pools at the sister hotel, a short walk or clubcar ride away. It's in the pedestrian zone of the charming village of St Angelo, so you can't drive right up to the hotel. Be ready for lots of stairs and make sure you're physically fit.

The private beach and thermal baths are fantastic, and breakfast was excellent, but getting to the amenities means taking a motorized cart, which was a hassle. Walking is possible, though it's a long way and probably not appealing in hot weather. The hotel is also a few minutes' walk from where a car can drop you off, and the cart apparently costs a lot each way. So expect plenty of walking. The elevators were odd and it wasn't clear where they went, so we took the stairs to and from our room each time. I didn't mind, but anyone who dislikes walking or isn't in shape should avoid this place. The room and bathroom were incredibly small, and I couldn't get the shower water warm, let alone hot. Tiny ants were all over the floor, which was disgusting and unacceptable. I also found staff less friendly than some other reviewers did, though the location and the ants bothered me much more. The online photos were incredibly misleading, and there are two hotels called Miramare in Ischia, so I had to check I was reviewing the right one. Ischia itself is beautiful and has so much to offer. I highly recommend visiting, but I'd stay somewhere else. The amenities are fabulous, but they don't make up for the other problems. I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone I know.
