19 Summer Suites

The location was a real highlight, close to some of the best beaches in the south of the region. Our room was fairly large and nicely furnished, with a private balcony overlooking the sea. Staff were polite and always available, and breakfast was generous and included. There were a few hassles, though. The pool was closed because of COVID, but we only found that out after booking. They couldn't locate the keys for several rooms, so throughout our stay we had to go to reception whenever we wanted to get into ours. We had already paid the city tax when booking, but on arrival they said it was extra. In the end, they didn't charge us for it twice.

The rooms are roomy and the view is nice, but the place feels new and still seems put together with the cheapest stuff. The pool is a long way off, and using the electric cooker in the room or getting it cleaned costs extra, though those charges weren't mentioned when booking. Even after paying, we got a random assortment of kitchen items: no frying pan or moka pot, and for four people just one full-size glass and three forks. On the first day they also added 75 eur/day for a pool umbrella. After a few hours and several interventions, they corrected the bill.

The location was the one bright spot. The room was large, but it wasn't clean when we arrived, and the breakfast was a disgrace. WiFi was available in name only, pages could take 15 minutes to load, if they loaded at all. The pool is off-site, a 7 to 10 minute walk along a crumbling path. Nobody mentioned the shuttle, which you need with a pram or wheelchair, unless you can manage over 100 stairs and steep ground. We weren't shown to the room or told how the key card worked. The welcome was awful. Cooking lunch meant asking for knives and forks because none were provided. The door buzzer did make us smile, it sounded like a prison gate every time we came in. The property photos don't match reality, and I wouldn't return.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. But the pools were closed, much of the park looked abandoned, and using the kitchen in the apartment came with an extra charge.
