Hotel Della Rotonda

The price was relatively low, and that’s about the only good thing. The interior looked dated, the room wasn’t very clean, and there were stains on the wall. Breakfast was basic, with no real choice. Between 23h00 and 2h00, the fire alarm kept going off. These things happen, but the hotel staff gave us no information at all. I went down to reception and nobody was there. All in all, never again. Avoid it.

The stay itself was pleasant, and the experience was worth it. Our room was simple and clean, the linen was changed daily, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We couldn’t try the restaurant’s food because the restaurant was closed. But the trip to the airport on Monday morning nearly became a disaster. The taxi booked through the hotel exposed us to what felt like four near-fatal accidents. The driver took turns at up to 100 km/h where the limit was 40, overtook on the right, sped up during maneuvers, and didn’t signal. There were other alarming moments too, and we thought we might not make it to the airport at all. I hope Hotel Rotonda chooses its collaborators more carefully in future. I’d been thinking of giving four stars, but this experience brought it down to three.

There were a couple of positives: the staff were friendly, and the internet was free and fast. The bathroom, though, was hideous, and the hotel looks like it hasn’t been renovated in ages. Water was dripping from the AC unit too. If you’re hungry, skip the hotel restaurant. There’s a much better all-you-can-eat place across the street. Try to avoid this hotel if you can.

For a four-star hotel, this was nowhere near the mark. Cleanliness was the one thing it got right. We were given a room for disabled guests, but everything looked old, the wall tiles were dirty, and there were towels for only one person. The power sockets stopped working whenever the bedside lamp was off. Breakfast was the worst I’ve had, even after staying in more than 30 hotels. It was just ham, cheese, croissants and some yogurt. I’ve had more choice in two-star places. A two-star experience, and I’m being generous.
