Several things went wrong during our stay. We had no running water for hours on the first day, then a half-day outage of both power and water on the second night. There were several more power cuts, which made things really inconvenient. After leaving La Chintana, we found a mouse in our suitcase at the next hotel, and some clothes had been chewed. We had kept the door shut the whole time, as the property's own sign instructed. This was disgusting and a serious hygiene and pest-control problem. Even their cat left a mouse at our door during the stay. I sent photos of the damage to the property. At first, they apologized and promised compensation. After weeks of me following up, they avoided responsibility and refused to pay. When I pressed them, they replied: “You told us you had a mouse in your suitcase, but there was no trace of it. Then you told me you had receipts, but you don’t. You requested compensation several hours after leaving my property, without contesting the damage in my or our presence. There are many points that need to be clarified; if they aren’t clarified, I can’t pay for damages that are practically worth the cost of your stay. I hope everything is clear for you now.” That response says a lot about their so-called “customer service.” They denied and deflected instead of taking responsibility for a serious problem, despite the photos and the mouse left at our door. The whole experience was a nightmare: unsanitary, unreliable, and handled with no accountability. Their message made it seem like they didn't care about guests. I'd strongly advise anyone considering this property to stay far away.

The grounds are lovely, with a well-kept garden, a pool, beautiful scenery, and real peace and quiet. It’s an old farmhouse, and you can tell the host cares about nature: rubbish is sorted, and there are plans for an electric car charger. The nearby beaches are beautiful. La Pelosa is worth trying late in the season, Porto Palmas works year-round, and Argentiera is a fascinating ghost town with a walk up to the cliffs. That quiet comes at a cost. You need a car for everything, and shopping can mean a 45-minute drive, especially late in the season when nearby supermarkets close early or have empty shelves. There were no restaurants open nearby late in the season either. The bedrooms are very small because it’s a historic building, and I wouldn’t call it suitable for young children, with signs asking them not to touch the white pebbles, flowers, or fish. Our flat had no working heating, so early mornings in October were very cold. The hot water also failed on several days. Once we had to run the shower for 20 minutes before it warmed up, and reporting it didn’t lead to a repair. Wasps made eating outside difficult. The worst disruption came near the end of the season, when construction started in the yard one morning with a cement mixer. Dust covered our breakfast, and after we lost half a morning, the compensation was only a small price reduction for one day. The pool had also been closed and its chairs removed while guests were still staying there. On our last day our four-year-old had been sick overnight and was crying, so we asked for a late checkout to shower and pack. At noon the hosts tried to come into the flat while we were still packing, and the argument turned into shouting and a threat from the host. Other guests were allowed to stay until 5 pm without being disturbed. We left at 2 pm and don’t plan to return. There was a clear difference between the older owners and their son and daughter. The younger generation tried to find a middle ground. The older hostess was especially aggressive and completely unprofessional when we couldn’t go along with what she wanted at checkout. She seemed not to realize they’re charging luxury prices for a luxury product.

The owners were so friendly, and we had a great stay at La Chintana. The houses were spotless and had everything we needed. The location was amazing.

Marco's father was very welcoming, and we really enjoyed our trip. It’s a lovely place. The one thing I’d change is the second bed: its mattress was too thin and uncomfortable for our little girl.

My little sister picked this place for her wedding, and I stayed for a week. The views made it a stunning venue. The owners and staff went above and beyond, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. I’d definitely recommend it.
