Albergo Ca' Vecchia

We came on Sunday looking for food, but it wasn't very good and the portions were small. There was nothing really suitable for kids. They charged a €10 service fee and €1.50 for water we hadn't ordered.

The sosta had all the amenities and cost €18 a night. There was free WiFi with a very good signal, and space for 12 vehicles. Dogs were welcome. The staff were nice, the food was good and prices reasonable. We also got 10% off because we were staying in a motorhome.

The restaurant is great and reasonably priced, and the hotel sits in a marvelous park just 15 km from Bologna. But this isn't somewhere I'd choose for a comfortable, clean night's sleep. My room was old and cramped, a bit like a monk's cell, and dusty everywhere. I'm allergic to dust, so I spent all four nights sneezing, especially when I switched on the air conditioning. With renovated, thoroughly cleaned rooms, this could be a magnificent hotel.

The place looks beautiful, and we wanted to stay, but the communication and service were extremely disappointing. We emailed that morning to check if the camping area was open. When we arrived by bicycle at 20:30 with a baby, we were suddenly told camping was allowed only for people arriving by car, not by bike. The poor receptionist had to follow her supervisor's order of “No!” over the phone. We spent two hours searching in the dark for a last-minute room nearby.
