The rooms have a countryside feel, and the location is distinctive, combining a historical palace or castle with a rural setting. It's a nice hotel.

We could walk to the riverine forest along the Reno, and the former villa and museum of Guglielmo Marconi is well placed for a visit. The hotel occupies the spacious grounds of Palazzo de' Rossi, a medieval palace, with lovely gardens of oleanders, old trees and flowering plants. I was disappointed that hotel guests aren't allowed into Palazzo de' Rossi itself. On our second night, a party there carried on until the early morning hours, and we could hear it. Our newly refurbished Superior King room Dependance was spacious, with high ceilings, a comfortable king-size bed and clean, well-kept amenities. The shower pressure was strong, staff welcomed our dogs warmly, and breakfast was generous and very good. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was good too.
