Villa del Sasso

The villa has lovely views up and down the valley, and the restaurant is elegant, serves delicious food, and is clearly popular with locals. The welcome from the friendly staff was lovely. Our room was plain but comfortable. There was some traffic noise from the main roads that are visible and audible, but it was bearable. Breakfast was basic. The restaurant is the main focus, and the hotel side felt a little disorganized, though in a pleasant way.

Great staff, amazing food, and clean rooms. Definitely worth a visit!

I would have stayed there, but I needed somewhere closer.

I've wanted to try the Villa del Sasso restaurant for a while after hearing good things, and it lived up to that. The young woman serving us welcomed us and, when we asked to eat outside in the warm, pleasant weather, kindly said she'd set up a table right away. She brought the menus and wine list, answered our questions, and offered recommendations. A few minutes later, she brought a welcome bite to share: grain salad with Taggiasca olives, feta, and peas; warm crostini with lard and drops of honey; and creamed fava bean soup with pepper. We ordered spaghetti with sardines, lime, and coffee-flavored breadcrumbs, along with lasagna Bolognese. For the next courses we had a cold cuts and cheese platter with fried gnocco and tigelle, and calamari curls over spinach with carbonara sauce. The recommended wine was a slightly sparkling organic white from a local winery. We finished with coffee. The bill came to 63, which they rounded down to 60. At the end, the Chef and Assistant Chef came by to ask about the food and service. Every dish was delicious, the service perfect, and the restaurant clean, tidy, and fragrant. The restrooms were perfect too. Congratulations, guys, you deserve a 10.
