I came to Schilpario because it’s tied so strongly to the lead character in The Shoe Makers Wife, a fantastic book I’d read. I was visiting Italy and felt I had to see the village for myself. With the Alps rising behind it, I could understand the connection the book creates.

The town-center location and fair prices were a real plus, and we’d gladly come back to Albergo Pineta. Our room was simple, but clean and welcoming, and the staff made us feel at home with how kind and helpful they were. Dinner service was prompt and the food was delicious. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it without hesitation.
