Sea Side Rooms

We had to buy toilet paper after two days because the rooms weren't serviced, and we didn't want to call that mobile number yet again. Getting in was already a problem: we had to phone to check in, and the person who answered didn't speak English. Breakfast wasn't in the restaurant shown in the photos either. After another call, someone finally came an hour later and took us to a different B&B for breakfast. The room itself looked like the pictures and was clean, but the service was bad.

Coffee and fresh croissants on a lovely balcony with a sea view made breakfast a treat. The B&B was spotless and welcoming, and the host was so kind and discreet. Highly recommended.

Finding the place was a mess, and parking the car was impossible. We called the owner before arriving, but the phone was always off. After three tries we went to the front door, where we found a different name and number. Nobody answered that number either. We'd already travelled for six hours and waited more than an hour in the heat, so we went elsewhere and spent even more money. The owner never contacted us that day by call, text, or email. At 11:00 PM we called again and finally got through, only to hear that the phone had no reception. This was in 2020, and the way we were treated was unacceptable. The place was poorly managed, disrespectful, and showed no seriousness at all. There were other bad reviews too. It is now called Donna Maria Rooms, not Seaside Rooms. Of course we asked for a refund.

Getting to the place is a real effort: cars aren't allowed, so it's a 500-meter walk from the port parking lot along cobblestones, then nearly 65 steps up two staircases. Booking.com gave no warning and there was no help with the bags. The lobby is extremely damp, and the owner never appeared or answered the phone, just sent a few messages we couldn't make sense of. The room had only two towels and no bath mat. Water pressure was so poor that after flushing, you had to wait for the tank to refill before washing your hands; the shower wouldn't flush either. The tiny bathroom had no shelf for soap or shampoo, and the ill-fitting toilet seat kept falling in. The TV looked nice but had no signal, either free or cable. No mirror, no nightstand, and the same key opens Rooms 1 and 2. There's no security system. Breakfast was terrible: two toast slices and two supermarket cornets, which we had to prepare in our room. We also had to wash the cups and utensils ourselves the next day because there was no daily service. I know B&Bs pretty well, and this is among the worst I've stayed in. I could go on.
