The host was kind and helpful when I asked where to find a pharmacy after my daughter got a small scratch at the beach. The apartment is nicely decorated and well placed, just a three-minute walk from the beach. But it's very cramped: the sofa bed fills the living room, and the bedroom is so small that opening a suitcase is awkward. There was no AC in the bedroom, which was uncomfortable in July heat. We arrived early, but the host didn't reply to messages until check-in time, then sent a 70-page manual that was overwhelming. Locked closets with blankets inside felt unwelcoming, and there were personal-use things like shampoo and toothpaste left in the bathroom. It was my sister's birthday during our stay. When I mentioned it, the host brought a cake, then later asked me to pay for it. That was disappointing after the warm hospitality we'd had at other hotels in Italy. It's fine for a short stay if you're okay with the small size and lack of comfort, but the hospitality didn't match what we'd experienced elsewhere in Italy.

Antonello was ready with thoughtful advice and attention from the start, clearly someone who hosts with real passion. The village was peaceful, the apartment charming and welcoming, and it had every comfort we needed as a couple. With just "40 steps" between us and the sea, we could really enjoy relaxing, even in a challenging year like 2020. The only hard part was leaving when the holiday ended. Highly recommended.

With the beach and sea right there, I always enjoy coming back to bathe in Scilla's history. The town glitters beside a sea shaped by nature. It's a special place that takes you on a journey through time, and one I want to revisit.
