Castello Di Potentino

The owners have lovingly restored this beautiful old place. Guests can volunteer during the harvest or take part in the intensive workshops held from time to time. The princess suite had a lovely view and a private library, and the rooms were nice. Just know there’s no air conditioning. In May, our room stayed cool enough most of the time. Breakfast was simple and good, and you serve yourself. A couple of things went wrong with the booking, but Alexander and Charlotte were quick to reply by email and WhatsApp and helped with everything, so I never felt concerned. The castle is breathtaking, and the stay is one I won’t forget.

The food weekend, Cucina Povera, was a highlight. We picked up ideas and recipes while learning about cheese, bread, and wine with chefs and other food lovers. We also had wine from the Potentino vineyards with every meal. The Lyncurio, Pinot Noir Rosé, and both Alicante wines, red and rosé, were favorites. Ask about how the wines are made and the diversity of the Seggiano valley, and don't miss the breakfast honey. We came in late November, when the colorful countryside made a perfect backdrop for our long weekend. We cooked during the day and walked among the olive trees and vineyards. The castle is beautiful inside and out, with a warm, stylish interior. Charlotte and her team were welcoming, generous, and clearly proud of their work. We loved our time there and can't wait to visit again.

The staff are incredibly kind, and the wine, honey, and olive oil they make are some of the best I've ever tasted. The castle itself is impressive, and the countryside around it looks better than a movie set. The Wi-Fi works well, but I barely used it. From the moment I arrived, the quiet made it easy to switch off. Being at Potentino helped me hear my own thoughts again after years. It's difficult to explain, but the place feels like a parallel reality. I'd go back in a heartbeat. If they'd have me, I'd even move there and work just for food and a roof.
