The spa was one of the best parts, with a big indoor and outdoor pool, really warm water, and a large sauna area that's perfect for relaxing without children. The food was amazing and always warm, and the buffet had plenty of choices. Our room was big with enough space, a comfortable bed, and a large bathroom with everything we needed. The hotel is luxurious, the staff work very hard and are quick, and the central location is perfect. They also provide shuttle buses to whichever slope you'd like. It was an amazing family experience, and definitely one of the best restaurants I've stayed in. We'll be back.

Valentina gave me a wonderful hot-oil back massage after our morning skiing. She's tall and slender, so I was very pleasantly surprised by how strong she was. She was just perfect. As non-residents, we visited the day spa and had one treatment. The staff were welcoming and relaxed, and made me feel special. There's lots of space and a range of facilities, including several jacuzzis and a good-sized pool that continues outside through push-button glass doors. Swimming outdoors in January and reaching out to touch the snow from the spa felt very special. Thoroughly recommended, with excellent value for the facilities, service, and warm welcome.

We keep coming back to Hotel Gran Baita for ski holidays, and it feels like a home away from home in the Dolomites. After a day on the mountain, the relaxed, casual atmosphere makes it easy to unwind. The food is consistently superb, from generous breakfasts to beautifully prepared dinners that feel closer to fine dining than the usual ski hotel fare. Everyone we've met, from reception to the restaurant and bar, has been friendly and made us feel welcome. It's the first place we recommend to friends planning a Dolomites trip, and we look forward to returning year after year.

We ordered drinks and food in the lobby, then staff suddenly refused to serve us food once they realized we weren't hotel guests. They delivered this unfriendly policy in the coldest way, saying only “hotel rules,” with no explanation or basic courtesy. Completely unacceptable and deeply unwelcoming. Absolutely appalling service.

The contrast with Hotel Tyrol, where we stayed earlier on the same trip, made our experience at Granbaita even harder to accept. Hotel Tyrol had warm service, excellent food, thoughtful design, and real hospitality. Granbaita is marketed and priced as a luxury, five-star Dolomites stay, but we found it poor value and would not return or recommend it to anyone seeking quality, comfort, or value. There were a few exceptions among the staff: the drivers and one waiter were good. Otherwise service was poor, with people often dismissive, defensive, and uninterested in fixing problems. When we raised concerns, waitstaff and management repeatedly brushed them off with “that's just how it is.” We booked well in advance but were placed far apart, with no effort to keep our rooms together. The hotel felt too large to offer the attentive, personal service you'd expect in the Dolomites. The accommodation also felt substandard from the start. The linen and toilet paper were extremely rough, almost hostel quality. We asked staff to sort this out, but nobody followed up and nothing changed. At this price, basic comfort shouldn't take repeated requests. The interiors had no warmth or cohesion. Long, narrow corridors, harsh lighting, and worn carpets felt more like a hospital than an alpine retreat, and reminded us of The Shining. Odd sculptures and artwork scattered around only added to the sterile, impersonal feel. The spa smelled unpleasant. Rather than deal with the cause, the hotel seemed to cover it with overpowering synthetic cologne. The same scent was sprayed in our room, making things worse. Food was the biggest disappointment. Breakfast was mediocre at best, with little fresh fruit, dry pastries, and eggs that varied from day to day. The overnight oats we ordered once were genuinely inedible. Dinner was the low point: protein courses were repeatedly poorly cooked and paired strangely with baby-food-like purées, clearly visible in the photos. The antipasto buffet had raw seafood left sitting out for extended periods, which raised serious freshness and food-safety concerns. The so-called “dessert night” felt mass-produced, with items that seemed shop-bought or made days earlier, lacking freshness, skill, and care. One evening we looked forward to Kaiserschmarrn, but got four oily, flat, cold pieces of pancake instead. It did the dish and cuisine a complete disservice. Granbaita is too big and impersonal, and too poorly managed to justify its prices or five-star branding. The uncomfortable rooms, unpleasant smells, cheap furnishings, weak service, and consistently bad food left us feeling it failed to deliver the experience we expected in the Dolomites.
