Romantic & Family Hotel Gardenia

The food was excellent, and the shuttle service was great. Kids have a big playroom, though there’s no babysitting service. We had a room issue: there was a constant running-water sound, and we didn’t get the balcony we’d specifically ordered. Still, it was a great experience overall.

The hotel is nicely designed, with care put into it, and offers a shuttle to a nearby ski lift. The timing didn’t work well for us, though. The lifts stay open until 5, but the last shuttle leaves at 5, which felt half an hour too early. If you want to ski as long as possible, this shuttle may not suit you, and a hotel closer to the slopes could be a better fit.

A lovely family-run hotel, with plenty of little extras to enjoy on site. It’s a great base for skiing, and the breakfasts are good while the dinners are even better.

We paid for breakfast and asked for sandwiches to take on an early hike. They gave us one overripe banana and four tiny sandwiches, just dry bread with a paper-thin slice of salami. It was pouring on the day of the hike, and going out felt too dangerous, so we came down for the buffet breakfast we’d already paid for. Instead, they said we’d “already had our breakfast” and would have to pay another €30 to use the buffet. I tried to explain politely that the buffet price covers much more than four dry sandwiches, and that a buffet is meant to be unlimited. The manager was rude, kept repeating “these are the rules,” and said he didn’t care. It would have been such a small gesture for the business to handle this with some hospitality. Instead, they hid behind “rules” and lost a client. Bravo.
