Stella Hotel - My Dolomites Experience

The food was the highlight for me. We were half board, and dinner brought several courses of excellent local ingredients and specialties. I’ve eaten at plenty of restaurants in London and abroad, and this was among the best. They catered to preferences, and some evenings had themes like tasting menus or a dessert buffet. One night, we could go into the kitchen and watch the first and main courses being prepared. Breakfast was lovely too, with both buffet and menu choices. The hotel is practically ski in, ski out, and after a week here I found the stylish, newly refurbished rooms beautiful and very comfortable, as well as spotless. Staff were warm, welcoming, and efficient, with a family feel. It’s a luxury stay at a reasonable price, and I’d recommend it. My one small gripe: there’s no tea or coffee making setup in the room, though you can get it in the restaurant from 7am.

The food was one of the best parts of our family holiday. We’ve eaten at many Michelin-starred restaurants around Europe, and several dishes here surpassed what we had in some of them for taste, ingredient quality, preparation, and balance. Every meal was a pleasure. The staff were professional, genuinely warm, and attentive, and made us feel looked after. Hotel Stella also has very convenient ski facilities, including a good ski room and direct lift access, so you can step almost straight onto the slopes. Our elegant, comfortable room was immaculately clean, with thoughtful details throughout. It was a wonderful setting for both a family break and an active ski trip, and exceeded our expectations. Getting ready to ski was easy in the clean, warm, modern locker area, and the spa was pristine, peaceful, and well run. The location is ideal, just steps from the lift. The whole place feels upscale but still intimate, with a real boutique atmosphere and thoughtful touches throughout. Our room was lovely and well appointed, the spa was deeply relaxing, and the complimentary breakfast was far beyond what I expected. I loved staying here and would happily return.

The staff were friendly, and I have to give the cleaning team my highest praise. The breakfast was great, very fresh, and had lots of options. Water was included then, oddly, though we were charged 4-5 euros per bottle at dinner, so budget for that on top of the already high price. Dinner tasted good, but some of the choices were unusual, and there wasn’t always something we were excited to eat. You only find out what’s being served when you come down. The room was very clean, which made us comfortable right away, and the bed was great. But our Comfort room felt dated for the price, and the window faced the bottom of a chair lift. There was no fridge or coffee or tea, and amenities were generally very limited. It was also too warm, with no way to control the heat, so we slept with the windows open. We chose the hotel because it was advertised as ski-in/ski-out, but you have to use some stairs or cross the road to reach a lift or get from the hill, so it isn’t truly accessible on skis. The ski storage room was very good. We recommend renting from Top Ski next door.
