The hosts were great and breakfast was very good. The hotel and room were clean, though the shower was small. Great value for money. Recommended!

Giovanni deserves special thanks. The owner welcomed us so warmly and made sure we were comfortable throughout our short stay at this Italian guesthouse. The place was clean and comfortable, with a wonderful atmosphere. You can tell it’s run with care. It was a beautiful experience, and we’d gladly recommend it to anyone looking for genuine Italian hospitality.

We had a very pleasant, relaxing week at Poggio de' Papi. It’s a charming Tuscan hotel, with breathtaking views and a quiet, well-kept property. The location makes a good base for Florence, Siena, and Lucca, though shops and restaurants require a drive. The hilltop setting overlooks the city and surrounding mountains. Pistoia is about 15 minutes away by car. The final stretch is steep and unsuitable for low cars, but a regular car should manage. The train from Pistoia to Florence is convenient. Supermarkets and restaurants are about a 10-minute drive, with nothing within walking distance. The grounds are maintained well and there’s plenty of parking. The pool is clean and cared for, with shaded spots, although the area looks a little dated. Our room was very large, with lots of storage, a window in the bathroom, a shower, and a small minibar. The view from the room was stunning. The room itself felt a bit dated too, and there was one large mattress rather than twin beds, which could be an issue for couples. The room was thoroughly cleaned each day, and the whole complex was in good shape. The owners were friendly and helpful, and communicating in English worked well. We couldn’t get dinner at the hotel during our stay because it was only offered with half-board. Even though we asked in advance, they couldn’t accommodate a single evening meal. Given the drive to restaurants, it would be useful if they offered individual dinners with advance notice. Breakfast had a good range of pastries, sweets, yogurt, cheese, bread, and milk. Some sweets weren’t homemade, but they were still tasty.
