Villa Manfredi

I had a wonderful week here, and the owner made us feel very welcome. He was helpful throughout, and those delicious pasticciotti at breakfast each morning were a lovely touch. The rooms are new and well looked after, with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and private parking, plus a little garden. The sea is about a five-minute drive away, while Lecce, Porto Cesareo, and the other main sights are within 20 minutes. A great base for anyone wanting to explore Puglia.

We said goodbye feeling like we were leaving friends, and promised we’d be back. Dario was attentive to what his guests like, making sure I had a plain croissant and different herbal teas each morning. Breakfast was generous, with fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, milk, coffee, tea, and plenty of pastries and baked treats. He also suggested some great local restaurants, where we ate really well. We stayed at Villa Manfredi in Veglie, a little village a few kilometers from Porto Cesareo. Dario and Carmela welcomed us with cold drinks and pasticciotti, then showed us to our double room, “Pumo verde.” It was spacious and had all the comforts we needed. The whole property was brand new, everything smelled clean, and the bathroom and shower were beautiful and comfortable. We could relax on a patio with sofas and an umbrella, and there was free indoor parking. The location made it easy to visit Salento’s lovely beaches and nearby towns. We went to Leverano for its wineries and craft brewery, Nardò, and Lecce, which is less than 20 km away. It was a wonderful holiday in Salento.

After a full night’s sleep, we woke to the smell of pasticciotti and bomboloni with their fillings, then had a delicious breakfast and a lovely chat with Dario about all sorts of things. We were sorry to leave and already imagine coming back. I’d recommend Villa Manfredi for a short or longer stay. The sea and Lecce are both close, and dreams really do come true. We arrived in Veglie in the evening after leaving Monza at 6:00 a.m., exhausted and looking for somewhere to sleep. I found Villa Manfredi on Google Maps and called. Dario answered and reassured me that he had a room, so we headed straight over. There was free parking in a large courtyard beside a garden. Our room was spacious and welcoming, with French windows looking out onto the garden. The bathroom was roomy and spotless, which matters a lot to me, and the dining room was well equipped and smelled fresh. It felt like the perfect welcome to Salento. Dario gave us dinner suggestions, and we took his advice.

Our holiday in Salento was even better thanks to Dario and Villa Manfredi. The new property has spacious rooms and everything was impeccably clean. Dario is always there to help, and having breakfast with him was a real pleasure. It’s quiet in the evening, with the most beautiful beaches only a few minutes away.
