Grand Hotel Villa Torretta Milan Sesto, Curio Collection by Hilton

The noise from events at the hotel next door carried into our presidential suite and kept us awake past midnight. We told management right away. They said they knew about it, but refused our request to move somewhere quieter and couldn't say when the noise would stop. We were disappointed and barely slept. At about 8am on Sunday, February 15th, we told the front desk we wanted to leave after the first night of our two-day stay. They apologized and said they'd speak with upper management about cancelling the second night. Since it was Sunday and management was understaffed, they asked us to check out as normal and said it would be sorted on Monday. After I got home, I found I'd been charged the full second-night amount as an “early departure fee.” That wasn't what the desk had told me, and I don't think it's fair to charge for a service we didn't receive. We might have stayed if they'd offered another room or assurance that the noise would stop, but the hotel was hosting the events and wouldn't relocate us, so we felt forced to leave a day early. There were problems from the start. We booked the Grand Hotel Villa Torretta Milan Sesto as part of our Italy trip for the Olympics, but the front desk staff were rude and dismissive. They scoffed at our rental car and made a comment about my friend's American Eagle jacket as if it wasn't good enough for the hotel. The location is far from downtown Milan, so you need a bus and a long train ride or an expensive cab. Between the noise, poor service, lack of accountability, and what felt like disingenuous communication, this was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. It's not what I'd expect from a supposedly high-end hotel on American Express's highly rated partner list. I'd avoid it. They seemed not to care about guests from the moment we entered the lobby.

Breakfast was a lovely start to the day, with Georgia looking after us so warmly. The evening before, we had dinner at the hotel bar, where Ciro's friendly, attentive service made the birthday celebration feel special and relaxed. We had a wonderful stay at Torretta Curio by Hilton Milan for my birthday. Anita welcomed us at check-in and made everything easy; her warmth made us feel at home. Stefano at reception was professional, attentive, and always ready to help throughout our visit. Everyone we met was friendly and committed to making guests feel welcome. It was a great place for a special occasion, and we'd happily stay again when we're in Milan.

The restaurant serves exceptional traditional Italian food, with a thoughtfully put-together menu and a fair wine list. The heritage building is beautiful, and the owners have done a commendable job preserving it and keeping up that work. I've stayed here for six years and it never disappoints. On my latest visit I made a booking mistake, but even with the hotel nearly full, the staff fixed it without fuss, stress, or much of a wait. Service is always generous and welcoming in that Italian way. It's a little away from the tourist centre, though an easy cab ride, and close to Monza for racing fans. Great hotel.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and truly superior. The front desk team made us feel so valued, upgrading us and treating us to bubbly, chocolates, and complimentary minibar items. Everyone was attentive and courteous throughout. They really made the stay feel special, and we're grateful for such a blessed experience!
