I came away feeling this place was filthy and badly run. Tables were left with the same crumbs from one day to the next, and when I had the do-not-disturb sign up, cleaners went into my room and took my things. The restaurant was often closed, and breakfast around 7-8am had very little food, including expired yogurt. I can't see the point of offering breakfast if the food is past its date. Prices for the same snack and water changed from 2.50€ one day to twice that the next. I tried buying snacks again after breakfast, but they wanted more than I had paid the day before, despite the amount shown in my pictures. I flew in from Canada, have family from Poland, and usually have a great time traveling in Europe. I speak several languages, so communication wasn't a problem. I don't mind spending money, but I won't waste it somewhere that seems to ignore basic protocols and operates unlawfully. It's especially disappointing because the place could have potential. The room and dining experience left me uncomfortable. It felt grimy and tacky, and the owner seemed more interested in squeezing money out of guests than offering hospitality. I wouldn't book here again or feel comfortable eating here. This was a real letdown after seeing all the positive reviews, which I noticed were from years ago. Even a two-star place should manage basic standards, and this one didn't feel ethical or properly run.

The terrace is what makes this place, with a spectacular view straight over the beach that almost leaves you speechless. Service was spot on, and the staff were warm and attentive. The fish we had was incredibly fresh, and everything tasted excellent.

We went to Il Pagurò for dinner on a Wednesday after comparing restaurants in Siculiana Marina. The sea-view setting is lovely, and when there was confusion about the opening hours, the manager quickly sorted it out and gave us the table we wanted. But once we were ready to order, she told us many menu items had run out during lunch. We managed to agree on alternatives for three people, though even the replacement fresh pasta for the sold-out busiata ran out later, so we had to choose another shape. The meal itself was disappointing. The inn appetizer had five small samples, and two were inedible: cold eggplant swimming in oil with very tough meat inside, and a tough octopus salad that reminded me of something from an improvised restaurant. The giardiniera with the octopus tasted like it came from a supermarket jar. Everything, including the tuna tartare, was covered in edible flowers. After about an hour, with only 13 people seated, the first courses arrived under so many petals that we wondered if they grew them there. The tuna steak had them too. The chips didn't, but the roast potatoes weren't roasted, they seemed boiled and then reheated on the grill. We'd ordered tuna tartare, calamarata with pistachio fondue and red prawns, seafood ragù that was switched from busiata to fresh pasta and then another shape, plus a tuna steak with black sesame and both fried and baked potatoes. The food was low quality, and the flowers felt unnecessary and annoying. If I'm ordering pasta with pistachios and prawns, I don't want a field of flowers on the plate. I work in restaurants and believe a good dish depends on its ingredients, not garnish. If dishes are on the menu, the kitchen should have enough produce, and the dining room should know about shortages before taking orders. The staff, especially the dining room manager, did their best to make up for problems in the kitchen and purchasing. Still, for €137, including two bottles of water and one glass of Chardonnay, I expected excellent fresh fish and what the menu described. I don't mind paying for dinner, but I felt I'd wasted €137 and missed the chance to have a proper seafood meal on this beautiful island. Catering is serious work and needs organization, consistency, and professionalism.
