Hotel Porta Romana di Luce Hotels

The view is nice and it’s close to piazza del campo, but the bathrooms are horrible even though the rooms themselves are okay. Watch out for snakes and bugs. The only nice thing is deers. The owners, from the father and sons to the receptionist, were horrible: disrespectful, unprofessional, hypocritical, and willing to lie about anything just so you pay more. BE CAREFUL FROM THE OWNERS.

Maria Victoria was the highlight of the hotel. She was kind, helpful, and professional. The location is very nice too, about a 10-minute walk from Piazza Del Campo, the main square of Siena. I highly recommend staying here. Thank you very much, Maria Victoria!

I have mixed feelings about this place. Reception staff were very nice and helpful, the room was spacious, the price was good, and the location is close to the old town with a panoramic view. But in July the jacuzzi wasn’t working, and neither was the room’s AC. When I wanted a drink, I was advised to buy something nearby because the bar wasn’t open yet. Breakfast as an option seemed rather expensive, almost like a tactic to keep guests away from it. It felt as though they opened before everything was ready. Maybe I’d return, but I’d double-check that everything is available first.

The terrace view was stunning and really helped us relax, and the staff were friendly. Still, I wouldn’t stay here again. Our stay ended so badly that it ruined our visit to Siena. We’d booked for a couple of nights and asked for a twin room if possible. The hotel emailed to say they’d honor the request, but we got a double bed. We let that go since it wasn’t the most important thing. The room was old and basic, and the AC didn’t work. Our airline lost our luggage, then delivered it to the hotel after we’d checked out, even though the driver had the details of our next location. The hotel accepted the bags but didn’t call, email, or otherwise let us know they had them. We only found out after traveling from Siena to Florence airport to ask about them. When we called, the hotel confirmed they had our luggage, but everyone blamed someone else. One person said the manager told them he’d called us; the manager said he didn’t know why staff hadn’t called. We traveled back to Siena to collect our bags and were told the hotel had handled things in the best way possible. They couldn’t explain how, since they hadn’t even tried to contact us. The owner’s sons refused to take responsibility for mistakes, and they even blocked my phone number so I couldn’t contact them. It was shocking how little they seemed to care about customers, and how cheap their actions were. Did they intend to keep our suitcases? A bitter end to the stay. AVOID THIS HOTEL if you want staff who care about customers.
