I Terzi di Siena

That lovely balcony and the comfortable, well-equipped room made this a very enjoyable stay. The location was hard to beat. There’s no lift and it’s on the fifth floor, but Fabio has a luggage lift. Call him and he can send up a large bag on a motorized cable, so you don’t have to haul heavy luggage all those stairs.

The room has a great view, but getting there means climbing five flights to reception and another flight to the room. It calls itself a bed and breakfast, yet there was no breakfast. During my two-night stay, reception was unstaffed.

That terrace may have the best view in Siena, with a sweeping outlook in the opposite direction from the room’s own 180-degree view. Watching the sunset there with a glass of wine would be hard to beat. My room was huge, with two big windows, a comfortable bed, a modern bathroom, and plenty of outlets. There’s also a shared kitchen with a fridge, freezer, and excellent free coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful both in person and online. Right in central Siena, this was the best room I had on my travels in Italy. I can’t recommend it enough!

I had a poor stay. Staff weren’t helpful and no one was there at checkout. I was also charged fees that hadn’t been mentioned beforehand. I wouldn’t recommend it.
