We spent seven nights here and hated having to leave. The hosts are a lovely couple, and the staff were so friendly. Housekeeping was thorough and diligent. With just 8 guest rooms, it never felt crowded, and there was a quiet, restful feel even around the pool. The pool is larger than it looks in the photos and was wonderfully refreshing. Breakfast was homemade, farm-to-table, plentiful, and delicious. The hosts prepared and served it at a communal table with the other guests, with good conversation along the way. The old stone building is gorgeous, with comfortable rooms and modern touches like central AC and solid WiFi. The views are breathtaking, and it’s probably the most idyllic place to stay in Siena. It’s only a 6-minute drive to a convenient parking lot by the escalators up to Siena proper. The hostess Letizia showed us the way on a map. My wife and I would give it a solid A+ recommendation.

After long, hot days in town, it was wonderful to come back and swim in the pool in the evening. The grounds are beautiful, with striking views across Siena and the surrounding countryside, and the location is close to town. Podere la Strega was our favorite stay during our trip to Italy. The owners were so kind and hospitable, and we had delicious breakfast included every morning. We also had a really fun cooking class on our first night. We hope to return to Siena one day and would definitely stay here again.

We visited during a big town event when everything had shut down. The owners went out of their way to order dinner from a local restaurant and pick it up for us, which was so thoughtful. They’re incredibly attentive and clearly enjoy hosting, making sure everyone feels happy and comfortable. The villa and rooms were beautiful, and it was an insanely beautiful stop on our travels.

The room we had on the ground floor was a bit dark and smelled damp. It could use a small update, though not so much that it loses the feel and decor of the place. We were only there for one night and didn’t ask to move. The rest of the stay was so lovely that I’d still recommend it. The views of Siena from the pool area are gorgeous, and there are lovely spots to sit. The breakfast area was pretty, and breakfast itself was very tasty. The owners are friendly. The location is good, but I’d recommend having a car.
