Hotel Abruzzo Marina

We came as a large group of family and friends, and everyone thought the hotel was fab. Our rooms were great, the place was spotless, and the food was good. Staff were polite and attentive, and spoke English, French, German and other languages. Excellent value all around. Thanks, we'll be back!

The beach was fantastic and the kids loved it, so we did have a great time in the end. Still, I don't think we'd return. The food was just okay, and dishes kept repeating, some every day. We spent a week there and were disappointed by the Italian food, even though we love it. For a four-star hotel, I expected a higher standard. I've stayed in lots of hotels, and this didn't feel like one. I'd normally give it two stars, but the beach and the good time we had brought my rating up to three. Some staff were really nice. One waiter was great fun and extremely kind to us, though he only looked after our table for two days. Our waitress was friendly too. Others ignored us at breakfast or seemed grumpy. At times I felt some employees were stressed dealing with guests who didn't speak Italian, and sometimes I didn't feel welcome at all. That's unusual for me in Italy. I don't expect people to speak German or English, but usually you feel cared for, and a bit of talking with your hands turns into a laugh and a good time.

We had a really nice three-day family getaway here in January, when it was cold and rainy. The beach walks were relaxing, with lovely sunrises, sunsets and views of the horizon. It was peaceful in the off-season, though I can't say what summer is like. There's a local restaurant a minute or two away on the right as you leave, and a little bar or café just across the way. Parking was convenient. The room was spacious enough, and the bathroom was modern with good hot water and a good shower. Breakfast suited a two-night stay, with juice and plenty of fruit, though after three days I'd want more variety. Wi-Fi was weak and sometimes didn't work. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and I'd recommend it for a quiet off-season visit.

Right by the beach, and they provide umbrellas. A nice hotel.
