The quiet, green setting and the clean rooms were definite positives, and the location worked well for us. But our two nights at IL POZZO in winter also brought up several things that need attention. The biggest problem was staying warm. The house seems poorly insulated for cold weather, and the only heating was a heat pump the owner had turned on that morning, following his instructions. The air felt warm, but the walls, floors, and bed were still freezing after the damp and cold period when the place hadn't been used. The bathroom was worse, with a radiator that didn't work. When we called, we learned the owner already knew about it. A neighbor was sent over with a backup heater. Using that heater caused the power to go out, so the supply couldn't handle the appliances we needed. We called again, and the neighbor restored the electricity and showed us the meter, which is outside the house and the village, in case it happened again. We had to keep the temperatures balanced and lower them to avoid another outage. We raised these practical issues at about 8 PM. The owner calmly replied that other guests had always been completely satisfied, and suggested we could choose somewhere else to stay. There were other maintenance issues too: damp and mold marks on several walls, plus a bathroom lace curtain covered in mold that just needs replacing. There were no useful hooks or other places to put personal items in the bathroom. The website mentions a “soft breakfast,” but we weren't given any breakfast at all. If that isn't offered, the listing should be changed.
