Hibiscus Hotel Residence

We had a pleasant stay, and the rooms looked renovated and clean. The bed was comfortable, and we even had a cute terrace surrounded by plants. I’ve never had such a good closet in a room, with room to put away all my clothes and suitcases neatly. Breakfast is absolutely worth paying for. The woman at reception was very engaged and helpful, always trying to sort out whatever we needed. Don't let the bad reviews put you off, the hotel is very good!

Unacceptable. The rooms smelled old and moldy, the bathroom was scary, and there were spider webs. This place needs a complete renovation, professional staff and a proper reception. Even if they only run the business 3 months per year, the quality shouldn't be this poor. Breakfast is a shame, you'd be better off paying at a nearby cafe. Definitely never again.

The spot is hard to beat in La Caletta, tucked behind the main nightlife street and right across from the port where the Orosei coast tour boats leave. Our room was clean, and the terrace was full of plants, which made the place feel really cute. It’s budget-friendly too. 🫶🏼🤍

We found bedbugs in the room, and the way the owner, Giampaolo, handled it made an already awful stay worse. The first night we woke up with what we thought were mosquito bites. After night two, I had another 45 bites all over me. There were bloodstains on the sheets, and bedbugs on the walls as well as the bed. Giampaolo moved us to another room, which was the least we expected, and we were comfortable enough there. But we had to wash everything we’d brought, and worried about carrying bugs home, which can cost £300 to have professionally dealt with. On arrival we’d also been charged an extra €50 for sheets. Asking for that back and a refund for the first two nights seemed fair, but Giampaolo refused any compensation. He said they’d never had bedbugs before and that we must have brought them. We’ve never had them, and with so many in the room, there was no way we’d brought them. We later found two reviews from the past year reporting bedbugs in the same part of the hotel. When I showed him, he brushed them off as old and said bedbugs weren’t a problem. That made it seem like he hadn’t taken them seriously or had them professionally removed before. When I tried to explain why we deserved some money back, he stood over me and raised his voice. He said the bugs were our fault, that it was our problem and not his, that he didn’t care about happy customers, and that he was old, had all the money he needed, and wouldn’t give us any back. His aggressive manner upset me. His wife, who co-manages the place, stepped in kindly, offered to take our clothes to a laundrette, and tried to discuss compensation. Giampaolo shouted at her too and wouldn’t compromise. The next day, she reimbursed the €50 sheet charge. We expected more for the trouble of moving rooms, the painful bites, the service we received, and the hours we had to spend washing our clothes and bedding at home so we wouldn’t bring bugs back. I’ve never written a bad review before, but future guests should know what happened. An owner shouldn’t make guests cry and then carry on being rude. Giampaolo was rude and deceptive, and both his customers and his wife deserved more respect.
