The receptionist was friendly and polite, and breakfast was okay. But we had an uncomfortable moment after getting into our room, when someone tried to enter twice without knocking. The rooms were very modestly equipped. We arrived on Saturday evening to a closed gate with nobody around, and there were no clear directions for late arrivals. Although the hostel looks close to the airport, it takes about an hour by public transport or an hour and a half on foot. The bus doesn't stop nearby, and getting there at night is very difficult.

From the window we could see the Mediterranean, and we were close to everything Ortigia has to offer. We spent two nights at Residence dei Baroni and found the apartment clean and comfortable when we arrived. Given the very reasonable price, we couldn't have chosen better.

Dirty and filthy. Please put some investment into this hotel. It's a shame to see such a dilapidated building on a beautiful island. Prisons in Holland are more decent than this haunted house. I'm sorry, but holidays are supposed to be relaxing.

The staff were incredibly helpful when we showed up at 9pm with nowhere to stay because another hotel had overbooked the room we'd booked. Residence dei Baronia was nearby, and they found us a lovely apartment at a very attractive price in another residence they manage, Residenza alberghiera, with an amazing rooftop sea view. The staff member also sorted out parking for our car, walked with us to the place, and recommended the best restaurant we ate at in the area, Clandestino. Thank you!

Nadia, the manager, was so welcoming, caring, and warmhearted. I really enjoyed my stay at Residence de Baroni, which is wonderfully placed by the sea in Ortigia. You get a proper flat for an unbeatable price. The building is a little old, but nice and clean.
