Hotel Mediterraneo

The rooms look like the photos, and everything else at the hotel does too. Staff are very friendly, though English isn't their strong suit. The street outside is very busy, so with the windows open at night you hear the traffic. You can still hear it with the windows shut, but it's quieter, and sleeping in the morning and evening is possible. Breakfast was the same every day, and some variety would have been nice. Even a basic salad with tomatoes and cucumbers would have helped. The coffee wasn't very good either. Despite those drawbacks, I'd happily come back to this hotel.

We had a pleasant stay at a very reasonable price. The place is small, proper, and family-friendly, and the staff make up for the improvements it still needs. They cleaned every day, topped up the water in the fridge, and the room smelled fantastic when we walked in. Our room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The terrace was a bit narrow, but I could always see a little strip of sea, which I loved. Breakfast was modest but buffet-style: warm croissants every day, cheese, cold cuts, salami, fruit, and little packaged cakes. Coffee was brewed on site using capsules.

We could see a bit of the Mediterraneo from our room, and it was a nice bonus. The room was clean and roomy enough, and the breakfast had plenty to choose from. The staff were really nice, and they let us leave our bags before check-in and after check-out, which helped during our visit to Syracuse. A good place for a short stay.

There are some nice restaurants and bars close by, plus plenty of sights to see. We had a great time here. The breakfast room is cozy, and it’s worth getting there early if you can. The train station is just a short walk away. For amazing cocktails, try Sazerac just around the corner. We stayed in late Sep 2023.
