The veranda was so inviting, with chairs, a table, and armchairs, that we’d put off going to bed just to sit there another half hour. The apartment was comfortable, well kept, fully equipped with dishes, a clothesline, washing machine, and barbecue, and VERY CLEAN. The pool was impeccable, and I’m VERY particular about clean water. There’s a beautiful view and the woods are close by. Just ask and the host will bring vegetables from his garden, grown without poison. He picked tomatoes and zucchini in the morning, and we ate them at noon. Pitigliano is a 15-minute drive away and Sorano 10, but who wanted to leave? I loved the birdsong and cicadas, even when they got so loud they were deafening. At night you can hear scops owls, crickets, roe deer, and wild boars just a few dozen meters away, though they don’t come in because the property is well-fenced. The owners keep bees and sell fantastic honey, their own extra virgin olive oil, and other products. I’ll definitely be back. A week there will last you a year. Shame they only have 5 stars, I’d give it 50!
