Palazzo Minelli

Palazzo Eugenia-Minelli is my favorite place to stay in Venice, even after trying many others. My room was super comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and the location was exactly where you want to be. It was surreal to stay in a 500 year old property right in the heart of historic Venice. A small canal entrance beside the building offered great chances for photography. Alessandro gave superb hospitality and shared a few details: the rich Minelli family originally owned the property, and Alessandro, from generations of gondoliers, has managed it for a couple of years. They served a simple, fresh breakfast every day.

The view from our window was amazing, and being in an original old building really added to our Venice stay. Breakfast came to the room, traditional, generous, and good quality. Bring your own shampoo, but otherwise I'd highly recommend it. A very positive experience.

The best part of the mornings was hearing gondolas and singers passing by with popular Italian songs. Our room had the feel of an old library, and it was large and old fashioned, like much of Venice. The price was good, and Alessandro, the owner, was helpful and communicated well. A few things could be better. The room needed more cleaning, and the bathroom was very small. We struggled with the shower temperature, which swung between scalding hot and freezing cold. Breakfast was included, but each morning we got milk and butter left in the fridge and croissants in a plastic bag by the door. The biggest letdown was the air con, which didn't work. We'd leave it on hoping to return to a cool room, but it was as hot inside as outside. Venice in summer is really hot and humid. It was good enough overall, but there were some disappointments.
