We stayed at Mistral Luxury Suites in late March, and it was our favorite of the three places on our trip to Italy. The suite was clean, with a beautiful sea view from the balcony. Its part of Sorrento was great for walking to the old town and to local food spots that felt more authentic and less touristy. On checkout morning, though, I spotted a live bed bug on the bed. I took a photo and a short video and sent both to the owners straight away. I also had visible bites on my neck, arms, and face. I was too grossed out to search the bed any further, so I packed quickly and took all my belongings to the laundromat downstairs to wash them on high heat. I messaged the owners promptly and tried to keep things calm. I wasn't demanding anything, just wanted them to know what had happened, as I'd hope any guest would. I did hope they might acknowledge the inconvenience or offer some goodwill, but they said they'd checked and found no evidence of bed bugs and that I must be mistaken. They also said something like, “we don’t take threats,” though I hadn't threatened them. We were traveling with another family who stayed in the next-door suite and had no problems at all. I'm writing this to give future guests a full, honest account, not out of spite. The location and views really are lovely. If you stay here, I'd suggest checking the bed when you arrive, just as a precaution.

The electric shutter was almost magical, blocking out a lot of sun. Even though the room faced the road, the noise was much lower than I'd expected. The hotel was a very pleasant place to stay, with a well-designed room and everything well equipped. It's just a three minute walk from the train station, and being able to leave our luggage after checkout and collect it easily before heading to the station was much appreciated. Thanks to the receptionist for the warm welcome and smile. Everything about the hotel felt perfect!

The room is clean and laid out well, and there are coffee spots, places for breakfast and dinner, shops, the train, and the central bus stop all within a short walk. There have been comments about not having enough hot water. The room has a 10 gallon electric tank that draws only 1200 Watts, so the supply is limited and takes a while to heat back up. Turning the thermostat higher could help. In the meantime, don't plan on taking showers one right after the other.

I usually put up with problems and have never left a bad review before, but I feel I need to describe what happened here. The room looked clean in photos and in person, but I found bedbugs. During the night, I woke up itching and saw one crawling toward me on the bed. I killed it, then soon saw another come out from under the pillow. I photographed it before killing it. Later I found a third and filmed it crawling on the bed. I also took pictures of the sheets showing traces from the three I killed. I stayed awake until dawn, afraid there were more, then eventually fell asleep again. When I woke, I had around 30 bites on my body. The itching was extremely bad and has kept getting worse into tonight. The hotel doesn't have staff there at all hours, so I checked out by myself and messaged them about the bedbugs. The manager said they had checked the mattress and found none, and claimed what I saw was “a small ant.” I said I had video and that the bites were in a line, which is typical of bedbugs, but the manager insisted there were no bedbugs and suggested they might be “small mosquitoes.” I said I'd come back in person to show the bites and video. When I returned, the manager wasn't there. The cleaning staff said they hadn't seen the manager since I checked out, and the room had already been cleaned. The cleaner also said the manager hadn't told her about any bedbug issue. It seemed clear to me that the manager had lied about inspecting the room or informing the cleaning staff. I sent more messages but got no further reply. I'm attaching photos of the bedbugs I killed on the sheets, screenshots from the video of them crawling on the bed, the messages with the manager, and pictures of the bites. I also took several photos showing concentrated bites on my back, wrists, forearms, and ankles. I hope nobody else is harmed by this hotel like I was. P. S. (1) “Stay in your country”? Is the hotel owner xenophobic? How can an owner who welcomes guests from many countries, including Koreans, post a public response like that on the official account? The owner acts polite to make money, but when there is trouble, the attitude changes and guests are mocked. I believe people will make good decisions when thinking about health and safety, the most important things while traveling. (2) My other reviews show there's no reason for me to write a fake one. The bed sheets here are white, but the photo was taken with only the bedside light on, as shown in the attached photo, so the sheets look dark. It was late at night and the main lights were off. To the hotel owner: Wouldn't the right thing be to admit what happened, apologize, and promise customers it won't happen again?

After seeing the hotel owner's response to the review, it seems best to avoid this place. The owner mocks a guest who was harmed and even appears to be racist.
