The owners are elderly, but they do everything they can to make an unfortunate guest feel welcome. Their son, though, treated me condescendingly and hasn't learned from his parents. Breakfast only starts at 8:30, and you leave the building mid-morning. As for the food, there was practically none: two sad first courses and two sad second courses. It felt like a boarding house for construction workers.

I had a lovely, friendly chat with Luigi in the barn while we watched the cows and calves. Juri let me touch and pet the newborn lambs, and Fiorella greeted me with her sweet smile and good food. The staff follow the family's example, too. I'll hope to return soon. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, and best wishes. At the San Vito farmhouse, everything is homemade, right through to the excellent white grappa. The San Vito family are authentic people who don't try to put on an act or fit stereotypes and imposed ideas. They show up as they are, stay open to change, and don't judge. Their example made me think about authenticity as a kind of beauty that goes beyond appearances, and how the real countryside, with its sacrifices, hard work, and holidays, can bring us back in touch with ourselves and the world around us. City life can make us focus too much on physical beauty.

I had dinner here and the staff were very friendly. The cheeses were good, especially the ricotta, and the cured meats were fine. The fresh, uncured ones weren't as good, with the prosciutto dry and salty. The grilled lamb tasted good, but the chops were stripped down to practically just bone. And the side was half a roast potato, literally half. At a farmhouse I expect generous portions and affordable prices, but that wasn't the case here.
