The setting is hard to beat, with unbelievably beautiful surroundings and really friendly staff. The building itself is old, so keep that in mind. If you love mountains, visit soon, as the glacier is retreating quickly. There's a real Rick's toilet on the ground floor 😎

We were welcomed warmly when we arrived, and the staff stayed cheerful, polite and attentive throughout our stay. After climbing Monte Cristallo with friends, we got back just before 2 pm. Dinner service had officially finished, but they still seated us and brought out a delicious lunch. The food was simple, filling and tasty, with plenty of it. Our room was basic, but warm, clean and comfortable, and had its own bathroom. Showers were available on each floor, though we didn't use them. The building has seen a lot of alpine weather and use: it was built in 1930 for the summer skiing development and refurbished in the early 1970s. Its appearance reflects that, but it didn't put me off. I stayed on 7 July 2018, and would happily return to Hotel Livrio. At €80 for full board, it's excellent value at 3,000m above sea level.

The air was cold and clean when we arrived on 8 August, with a temperature of 4°C. From this spot above the glacier, the landscape is breathtaking. The staff were nice, and the tea and cake were good.
