It's a calm, laid-back place to sleep in the mountains before the drive gets serious. People dining here seem to come back often, and they're happy to chat about just about anything. The location is the main reason to stay: right at the foot of the Stelvio pass, with great views, and ideal if you want to set off early before traffic builds up. Don't expect formal uniforms or a bellhop. The rooms are decent, a little small and quirky in places, and the photos give an accurate idea of what you'll get. Dinner is a set menu chosen by the chef, with generous portions. Parking is limited, but you reserve a space with your room.

Reserved tables for meals give this family-run hotel a lovely sense of tradition and belonging. Dinner starts around 19:00-19:30 with drinks and snacks in a salon that feels like another era, when people dressed for dinner. Times have changed, but the family's care in keeping that tradition alive is clear. The multi-course meal was beautifully served and genuinely delicious, and the staff were especially friendly. A friendly dog wandering around adds to the warm atmosphere. The hotel feels like a time capsule, with old-world charm, and the room looks out over the mountains and glaciers around the Stelvio Pass. There is construction underway for future development, expected to continue until December 2025, but that was a minor inconvenience compared with the place's distinctive character. A memorable stay with plenty of heart.

From Singapore. The hotel has been newly renovated and is a nice place to stay when visiting Stelvio Pass. It offers half board, with dinner and breakfast included. A new wing with an indoor pool is expected to be ready by December 2025.

The fourth generation takes real pride in this recently renovated hotel. It's great value, with very friendly staff and a great breakfast and dinner. A hidden gem, and a good place to stay if you want an early start on the Stelvio pass.

Summer views are spectacular, so choose a room facing the mountains. There are walking trails nearby, and the goats living close by make for a fun little experience. Parking is tight but manageable. The hotel feels more like a family place than a typical hotel, with staff who know many of the guests, and they make you feel welcome. The full-course dinner is delicious and inexpensive, so definitely try it. The menu is in German and Italian, which made it a bit hard to understand, and I'm not sure what the vegetarian options are.
