UNAHOTELS Club Hotel Ancora

The pool was beautiful and peaceful, right beside the beach with great views. It was about a five-minute walk from Hotel Ancora, which didn't bother us and let us enjoy the surroundings. The receptionist initially told us swimming caps were compulsory, but we found out that wasn't true when we got there. We also wished two more sunbeds had been included for our group of four. We understand the pool was run by a separate company, but it would've been better if enough beds for everyone were covered in the holiday price. Our family room was spacious and comfortable for four, including two teenagers, with a main bedroom and three very comfortable single beds. A fridge and hairdryer were provided, and housekeeping kept the room very clean every day. The receptionist was helpful and showed us to the room when we arrived. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including cereal, pastries, fruit, eggs and bacon, as well as several coffees and juices. At dinner, there were salads, ham, fish and fresh bread at the buffet, followed by a choice of two or three homemade pasta dishes and changing meat, fish and vegetable options each evening. The food tasted fresh and was carefully prepared. Desserts varied each night too, with rich chocolate cake and tiramisu as my favourites. Drinks weren't included in half-board, but they were good quality and reasonably priced. The waiters were helpful, and most spoke some English. Enrique worked very hard to keep guests happy. Staff looked under pressure at busy times, which made the restaurant feel a little tense, but the food and service were still good. The bar waitress was welcoming, attentive and quick even when it was busy, and helped make our evenings enjoyable. We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Ancora and would happily recommend it. The comfortable room, good food, hardworking staff and lovely pool and beach setting made it memorable.
