Hotel Elena

The location is great, and they were kind enough to move me to a room that wasn’t baking in the afternoon sun in June. Still, there’s no air conditioning, so watch out in July and August. The hotel uses small single-use plastic shampoo bottles instead of refillable wall pumps, and they took away my one-day-old bar of soap too ;( The TV was almost impossible to get working, and they still use those dungeon master keys from the Middle Ages.

My daughter really needed to use the bathroom, but they told us it didn’t exist and wouldn’t let her in. I understand that some places only allow customers, but we offered to pay and were still refused. Avoid this place if you can.

A well located hotel right in the heart of Stresa, across from the central square, and a bit underrated. The rooms felt sparse for the price, but housekeeping was efficient every day. The staff were very nice, and breakfast was great, with ham, salami, pancakes, croissants, bread, jams and fruit tarts.

I stayed here for a few nights around a friend’s wedding and would recommend it. It’s a little 'Allo Allo', but it has a good heart. Charming spot, great location, a lovely little bar and a tasty breakfast.
