Antonio made us feel at home with his warmth, kindness, and attention to every detail. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and clearly made with lots of love. Grancia dei Celestini is a charming historic place with a very special atmosphere, and everything was spotless and impeccably maintained. An unforgettable stay, and we can't wait to return!

We arrived without a reservation and loved the place. Dinner was fabulous: we didn't have to make a single choice, since the meal was already decided for us. Claudio, "il cuoco," served us "a meal to die for," and Antonio was brilliant. We really enjoyed the informal feel. This is our new home away from home.

The breakfast is cooked one portion at a time in little cast iron frying pans, with plenty of sweets and coffee. Our room was tucked above a beautiful medieval courtyard and had two skylights for sunlight and fresh air. The owner made us feel at home, recommended hiking trails, lent us a book w hiking maps, and arranged dinner reservations. Go to Buonvento! There's a church bell nearby every morning at 7 am to get your day started.

The owner has put lovely care into the place, from the building's restoration through to the tasty morsels. His staff are courteous, skilled, and willing to go the extra mile for guests. Even though it's on the main corso, the place is quiet and serene. I'll definitely return!

It's a lovely old monastery with a courtyard, just inside Sulmona's walls. Watch out for driving into town without a resident permit, as we did, or you may get an 80 euro fine.
