Marco was so welcoming to my wife and me during our two-night stay. The room was beautiful and spotless, and its location beside Piazza Guiseppe Garibaldi made it easy to reach the restaurants, bars, and shops. There’s a restaurant below the B&B that had a Michelin distinction in 2020; sadly, we didn’t have time to try the cooking prepared with help from Marco’s mother, Lucia, who was such a sweet, lovely woman. After staying at several B&Bs on our 21-day tour of Italy, I can honestly say this ranks among our favorites. We’d gladly return and recommend it.

We spent a long lunch working our way through the restaurant’s offerings. Though we don’t speak Italian, our server cheerfully walked us through the menu and suggested local wines and pairings. The food used fresh ingredients from the area, and the desserts gave familiar classics an unusual but simple, delicious twist. Their homemade digestiv had the best kind of bitterness. If you like that, be sure to try it. You won’t regret it.

The desserts alone were superb. We also shared an elaborate mixed antipasti, brought out in separate servings, plus pasta with garlic scapes and a grigliata agnello. A bottle of Presidium went nicely with the food. It all felt very posh. Go if you get the chance.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and clearly dedicated. The rooms are spacious and have air-conditioning, which was essential in Sulmona’s heat.
