Hotel Lido Mediterranee

For a Mediterranean holiday, the location is ideal, with comfortable rooms, excellent sea views, and beach access. The building is neat, tidy, and in good condition, though it seems little has changed since it opened. I'm no expert, but I'd guess that was around 1960. Anyone who likes mid-century architecture may especially enjoy it. The beach-level rooms are charming too, opening onto an outdoor dining area beneath neatly trimmed fig trees.

We wanted a laid-back break between a cruise and a Sicilian food tour, and Hotel Lido turned out to be just right. The waves outside our lovely room were so relaxing. Staff were friendly and helpful, and both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were exceptional, with an amazing view. The dinner menu changed every night, and both the food and wait staff were excellent. Visit the main town, but for a real taste of Taormina hospitality, stay at the Hotel Lido 🇮🇹.

Breakfast had a very good selection, and dinner was decent, though at 8:00 that's what you'd hope. The on-site meal choices are quite limited, especially at dinner, when the alternative is driving along the coast or into town. We weren't allowed to eat our own food on the large patio while the restaurant was closed. The place felt like a resort without a full range of services. I prefer to park the car and either have everything on site or be able to walk to nearby services, especially in Italy. The beachside location and view are great, but here “vintage” means tired. Some areas clearly need maintenance.

The rooms and hotel were very clean, and the staff were great. I had a wonderful stay with my family. The decor is on the older side, but it gives the place charm. Taormina center is a short drive away, though I'd rate the rooms and location four stars compared with places I've visited because of the distance from the center. What makes it five stars for me is being right on the beach: walk off the hotel terrace and you're there. I truly had a great experience and recommend it.
