Redirected to the nearby Hotel Akropolis, which was excellent. This place had closed in summer 2013.

Our two nights here were wonderful. The residence is in Taranto's old town, a short walk from the Cathedral of San Cataldo and other historic churches. It's a grand, elegant former convent, and the welcome made the stay especially warm. She made us excellent breakfasts and answered all our questions about the sea and monuments to visit. The photos really do speak for themselves. ❤️🎁

The basement was the real wonder for me, with excavations dating back to the Magna Graecia period. I'd never stayed in a hotel that used to be a convent, and it was a great experience. Sara was especially helpful, always available and knowledgeable about the city's history and past. Breakfast was generous, the rooms were clean, and the beds were excellent.

My room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is well kept and sits in an old building in Taranto's historic quarter. I'd recommend it.

A fantastic spot built over a hypogeum, with views over the sea of Taranto. There's more to this city than ILVA, people. Think about it.
