Villette Ninfee

The outdoor spaces had huge cockroaches at night, and even with great care some got into the apartment. There were also insects in the kitchen, including lots of ants, and barely enough utensils to make a simple pasta dish. The stove had no gas anyway. The outdoor shower flooded the whole balcony, leading to arguments with the downstairs neighbors about the water. The inside bathroom was usable. The doors felt very insecure, with faulty handles that didn't close properly. We didn't get garbage disposal instructions at the start of the week. After buying several euros' worth of bags, we found out from the garbage collectors that they wouldn't take the waste because the bags weren't biodegradable. Our group ended up using the kitchen in the other apartment we had rented to cook, since there was no gas here. The refrigerator also didn't work for two days in mid-July, then we waited another day after asking for a replacement. We booked and asked the host for all the information, but never saw or spoke to her during our week. She rejected every call to the number she knew. We dealt only with her husband, who gave no information and was imprecise and disrespectful. He raised his voice and spoke rudely when a young woman asked a simple question, often talking down to us as if we were untrustworthy kids. He even threatened to keep our deposit because we moved the outdoor table into the adjacent apartment so we wouldn't have to carry the pasta pot back and forth. A pitiful stay.

We had a lovely Salento holiday in a comfortable, practical home with plenty of space inside and out. The simple furnishings were just right for a beach house. The friendly owners quickly suggested places to see, from beautiful beaches to inland sights and good food. Their tips helped us visit somewhere different every day without missing a day of beach and fun. The villas are in a marina with plenty of shops. We'll be back this year. The villas are expensive for what you get, and need a lot of maintenance. The old furniture works poorly, the beds and mattresses are uncomfortable and noisy, and the garden table is falling apart and seems dangerous for children. The refrigerator light doesn't come on, there are no washing machines inside the houses and the machines are shared, and the doors are difficult to close. The kitchen sink is broken. The furnishings really need updating. We won't be coming back.

Cookware is pretty limited, though they do provide dishes, glasses, and cutlery. The owners are very helpful, and the spacious new villas work well for families. There’s a bathroom inside and another outside, plus air conditioning and two terraces shaded from direct sun for eating or relaxing.
