Hotel San Carlo

The sea view from the window was the only good part. I paid €140 for one night in a double room, and the place shouldn't even be called a hotel. On arrival, the entrance felt like a hospice, with a sofa and a fan. They gave us three keys, for the gate, a basic house-style security door, and the room. In the evening the shutters were down, making it feel like a home. The bathroom was frighteningly old, and the shower stall was rusty. The bedside light fitting was rusty too. There was dust and hair on the floor, hair in the sheets, the window wouldn't close, and the old white door was chipped all over.

For a two-star hotel, they charge too much for what you get. The shower stall is broken and you could get locked inside, while the bidet barely puts out a trickle. The mattress feels 30 years old, and humidity has ruined the room walls. Breakfast keeps getting more limited. They should offer better service to the people paying them, not just take the money.

We had a wonderful vacation and will treasure it. The spacious rooms were very comfortable and spotless, and there's a lovely green outdoor area for breakfast with a sea view. The hotel sits right by the sea, and the atmosphere is welcoming and family-like. Manager Gianfranco deserves special mention for his rare kindness and for going out of his way to meet every need and pamper his guests. We'd happily repeat this stay. Highly recommended.

It's a small, budget-friendly 2-star hotel, just 20 meters from the public beach and the resorts. The building is dated but well maintained, and the friendly manager helps make the stay pleasant. Rooms have air conditioning and spacious closets, and were reasonably clean. Breakfast is served at outdoor tables, with coffee, cappuccino, croissants, and jams.
