There are plenty of pizza places and takeaways nearby, but not much choice beyond that unless you head to a neighboring town. Getting around was easy, though: the Circumvesuviana train is about a 10-minute walk away, and we found it regular and reliable for trips to Pompeii, Sorrento, Naples and elsewhere. The apartment is lovely, well furnished and has everything you need, including a hob, fridge and washing machine. Gaetano and Rosa gave us a very warm welcome and lots of useful local information. They were happy to help if anything came up, then left us to enjoy the place. We had a very pleasant stay.

Having a car is a good idea here. There’s private parking for just €8 a night, and lots of places to explore nearby, including Naples, Pompeii, Ercolano, the Amalfi Coast and Vesuvius. The village feels very authentically Italian. The accommodation was great, with a view of Vesuvius and a private pool, and the host was great too.

After checkout, the hosts used photos of plates and glasses from the night before to say we hadn’t cleaned the apartment and ask for more money. They’d taken those pictures on our private balcony while we were asleep. We cleaned the balcony the next morning. The hosts were rude.
